Sharing tips
I just read on Poker Prof’s blog about the Wynn’s dealers having to share tips with the managers. While I wouldn’t like it if I was a dealer myself, I can understand the reasoning. When I lived in Kansas City, there were several split rate dealers (dealer part time, manager part time), and they would rather deal because they made more money.
I haven’t played at the Wynn yet so I don’t know about their managers, but some places could use some better management, such as Green Valley. Maybe the extra pay will lighten them up a little and make them less grumpy. GVR has a few good people there, but I’ve seen some berate players at the table, be rude to players trying to find a table and all around not very curtious. The dealers however are very all very nice, so it makes up for it.
If it is true that a a Wynn dealer makes up to $500 a day, I’m surely in the wrong business! Even if I gave up 10-20 percent of that to the floor I would make more, and I have a pretty good paying job as it is.
