Safari coming to windows?!
Apple has released Safari 3 Public Beta which runs on Windows. It apparently has some pretty good benchmarks going for it, but the real question is, uh, why?
The only people that I can see that would be really interested in running Safari on a Windows box are those that are forced to use a PC, say at work, but are die-hard Mac users. I suppose the argument could be made that it will help web developers with cross browser testing, but you can really be sure that Safari on a PC will behave the same way as Safari on a Mac.
Even so, most people that I know that use a Mac use FireFox anyway. Should be interesting to see what kind of adoption Apple gets with this new approach.

I suspect this is partly due to how they no longer refer themselves as Apple Computers, that is their focus isn’t the personal computer market. While best known for the Apple pc, i think jobs and company wants to establish a more broad brand than just macs. By offering safari to windows it’ll reach out to windows users to an alternative, not necessary a better alternative, just alternative, while also at the same time extending it brand cross platform beyond the confounds of the mac.
It should be noted that the immensely hyped iPhone from apple will supposedly run safari at some point, i think this move to windows ties into the whole ubitquous computer experience that i believe apple will eventually try to encapsulate.
