Playing 8-16
Last night we went to the Venitian and I played in a 8-16 game. I ended up playing for a couple hours and ended the night down about $75. The play was pretty good, much better than a 4-8 game. I really wanted to sit in on the 15-30 game but there wasn’t enough interest, and they didn’t have a 10-20 or a 20-40 game going either. One of the dealers said they have a hard time keeping those games going, although their 40-80 is usually good. Unfortunately I don’t have the funds to play one enough.
They also had a hard time keeping the 8-16 game going, and at one point we were playing short handed, like 4 people short handed. At first I was not thrilled by this and almost left, but it was actually enjoyable. It isn’t often that you get to practice your short hand game so I took it as a learning opportunity and was pleased with my play.
I am still hoping to get into a 15-30 or a 20-40 game sometime soon. One of the dealers said that the Wynn has been keeping those games going so I might try there. I still haven’t played at the Bellagio and someday I will, but it is pretty crowded in that poker room and I’ve heard the service isn’t always great, bordering on the staff being rude. I’ll still try it sometime if for no other reason than it is the Bellagio and they seem to always have the middle limit games going.
