Phil Ivey odds of winning the HORSE event at 25-1

The $50,000 buy-in HORSE event is being considered at the real tournament for determining who is the best poker player in the world, and according to an off shore sports book Pinnacle this year Phil Ivey is a 25-1 favorite. Last year he finished 3rd in the same event behind Andy Bloch and the winner Chip Reese. Chip is listed as a 40-1 favorite and Andy a 70-1.

Why the difference? Well as those who keep up with poker will tell you, Phil Ivey is considered on the best poker players in the world by his peers. To contrast, Jamie Gold, who was the main event winner in 2006, is listed at 150-1 to win the HORSE event.

The event is starting this Sunday (the 24th) at the Rio, and it should be quite an exciting 5 days of elite poker.
