New Ventures
My wife and I have decided that working for someone else just isn’t cutting it anymore, so we decided to start a new venture. I won’t release the details just yet, but we are going to jump on the social network bandwagon and build a community website. She is currently working on the content and I’m working on some programming aspects of it. We think we have gotten a pretty good niche and our initial research points to this being (hopefully) a big hit.
We have even talked about other opportunities along the same lines. The current one is pretty much her idea and she is really taking the lead on it. Personally I love it. I don’t get to do any hardcore programming on it, but it is nice to be able to create something the way I want and potentially have it be rewarding monetarily as well.
In the mean time, she has really gotten into the whole blogging thing (see ‘My Wife’ in the links). While I have had this blog for a little while, I didn’t maintain it all that much, but now that she has gotten into it and started her own blog I think we will be spending more time writing and less time complaining about work. I have been spending quite a bit of time researching other blogs and seeing what people are doing to make their blogs successful. From generating traffic to generating money (somewhat related…) I’ve been soaking it up like a sponge!
Time will tell if our escapades will work out or not, but hey it is inexpensive to get going and it feels to good to take the risk and see it through.
