Looking for Mac software

OK mac lovers, I’m due to get a new MacBook Pro next week and I’m looking for a list of must have software. I already know I’m going to get TextMate for some dev work, but what about a good noob video package, music, etc.?

This is a Mac. :) The music software is included (iTunes). The video player is bundled (iDVD). The video editing software as well (iMovie). A lot of the stuff you’re accustomed to downloading for Windows will be included.

Get QuickSilver and be sure to install the XCode tools off your DVD. That’ll take a long time.

I use Adium instead of iChat for my IM. It has better multi-account support. Vienna is a great RSS reader. Parallels (or VMWare) for running your other operating systems.

That’s my short list. :) Good luck!

Hmm. Haven’t heard of QuickSilver before. I’m definitely going to get a copy of Parallels though. I do have a couple games a play once in a while and I have some other PC only software that I would love to take advantage of the 4gb of ram I plan to put into it.
