First impressions of Wordpress 2.2

A few days with my upgraded Wordpress theme and install leaves me two quick impressions. First, I wish the preview was still in the edit interface instead of in a separate window. I really liked hitting the ‘Save and Continue Editing’ button, then just scrolling down to see the preview.

On the good side, I do like the auto save feature. Although I don’t generally write really long posts, I like that if I get up to leave the machine for some reason — say nature calling — that I won’t have to be concerned about getting timed out and losing what I was writing. It does this autosave in an AJAX fashion and even tells me when it did it, which is about every 2 minutes.

Other than that I’m pretty happy with it. I completely skipped the 2.1 upgrade just out of laziness, but all is good. I didn’t have one problem with any of my plugins which is also nice.

Now I just need to create me a nice graphic for the header so it doesn’t look so bland and all will be good.
