Apple updates MacBook Pro

Apple has upped the ante again with their MacBook Pro laptops. Adding the latest Intel Core 2 Duo CPUs running at 2.4GHz, bumping memory up to 4GB, better graphics, moving to 802.11n wireless and a few other goodies.

Their 15″ model now includes the industry’s first 15″ LED-backlit display which is more power efficient and is a move towards removing mercury in their product line.

The new graphics card is the new NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT GPU, is said to be some 50% faster than the original MacBook Pro with Core Duo. Not bad.

Of course they still aren’t cheap, with the 15″ coming in at two grand and the 17″ starting at $2800 and with all the hardware goodies — max memory and the 250GB drive — coming in at $3800. Ouch…

They may be pretty expensive, but I would surely love to have one. Connect it up to a 30″ monitor and what a machine to have!

Even better than that, I have some Apple stock which as of this writing I’m up just over 8% in and combined with their iPhone and I should have a pretty good quarter, stock wise.

Anybody have one of these babies yet?
