A better file upload for web apps

joke monkey

The normal HTML file upload control is a true pain to use. It is almost impossible to style via CSS, doesn’t support multiple files and well, pretty much sucks.

There have some successful attempts for alternates and some of those even have some tricks for showing progress via backend scripts and AJAX. However, thanks to the Ajaxian.com site I came across this flash-based uploader that looks pretty darn good. You can upload multiple files at once, style the control, register for callbacks, control file size and many other items. It will even degrade nicely back to HTML if the browser doesn’t support flash (a rarity these days). Check it out.
